Festival Page The Lighthouse Folk Club One Day Festival 4th July 2009 After riding high on the success of last year's festival we have decided to do it all again in 2009. The one day festival will once again start with a marathon folk club and conclude with an evening concert. The folk club is open to all and will start at 12 noon, finishing at 5pm. The evening concert will start at 7:30pm, finishing at about 11:30pm (ish). Tickets for the concert are on sale now at a cost of £7.50. You can get your tickets at the club or you can apply for them by following this link. Just state your requirements and Sue or Pat will be in touch. We expect this to be a sell out so please apply early. Food and drink are available on the day and the room will stay open for those who will be staying on for the concert. The following guests will be appearing at the festival:
A quote from Anthony's web site. "In a land of songwriters this man is the one most deserving of a wider audience. Singers like Sean Keane, Colum Sands and Frances Black praise him and radio presenters love his music". Find more here. Will Morgan An excellent raconteur and an accomplished musician with an engaging personality and wicked sense of humour. Will has been on the folk scene for many years and draws his material from a wide range of sources one of these being Jake Thackray (of That's Life Fame). Pat and I saw Will perform his Jake Thackray set at Bromsgrove Folk Festival last year and just fell about laughing. We knew then we had to book him to do this set for The Lighthouse Folk Fest in 2009. Legacy A five piece band from Bromsgrove currently making a big name for themselves on the folk scene with their unique sound. Individually they are Bob Bignell (Bass Guitar, Whistle and Vocals), Ant Dzeryn (Guitar), Abi Swarbrick (Flute, Whistles & Vocals), Damien Swarbrick (Guitar, Mandola and Vocals), and Gemma Clay (Cello & Vocals). Their music ranges from traditional songs through to classic 60's pop, contemporary songwriters and, increasingly self penned songs. In fact, something for everyone. Roger Oakes He has been playing guitar and singing for several years. His musical taste is varied and this comes through in his performances (Blues, Bluegrass, Folk, Country, Contemporary etc.). Roger is a very competent performer and we have no doubt he will have you singing along right from the start. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Just to remind you of last year's festival: Lighthouse Mini-Fest - 5th July 2008
